Recently, you may have read about what many of our clients/friends at Pura Vida have been accomplishing through their yoga practice. Some have lost over 85 pounds, while others have done away with medication. In other instances, many have stregthened their backs, they've discovered a healthier way of living and they've found a form of exercise that they actually look forward to doing several times per week. Pretty cool right?
You know, before Faidre and I opened Pura Vida, we wanted to create a studio that stood against the one size fits all phylosophy. We wanted to create a place where you as a practitioner would be able to test the yoga and truly feel whether it worked or not. And we didn't want to build it on a militant type of environment. This type of phylosophy just didn't sit well with us.
More importantly, we wanted to help build a community that stood against codependency on prescription drugs and pain medication. We aimed at building a community that stood against our struggle with obesity and depression! We wanted to get the point accross that it was up to you to show up and it was up to you if you wanted to continue to live with high risk of heart attacks and other ailments.
And I'm happy to say that with your help and participation, we've accomplished all that and much more! So, how have we done it? One way was by toning down the heat. Another was by reducing our class times to one hour instead of an hour an a half. We studied and trained in many of the yoga styles to learn what each pose did and how they benefit. We also learned to motify poses when needed and advance when it's available. And most importantly, we created a method of practicing that encourages you to earn it. To build your confidence as you go and learn from your practice.
In closing, both Faidre and I would like to thank you for supporting us to stand against today's norm; i.e. over medicated, depression, obesity and disease. We are confident that with your help, our community at Pura Vida will continue to grow and we will continue to discover more success stories and more accomplishments than ever before. Thank you for standing against all of these things and for supporting our community.
To your health & success,
