We finally make up our minds to work out or to "Get back in shape." And what do we do? We involve ourselves in as much as possible! We start lifting weights, we start running, we take yoga classes and we hire personal trainers. And the list goes on. Initially, we fell behind because we had no time in our busy lives. But now, we figure we can pull it off. So we do what we do best, we overload. How long before you lose your motivation this time? How long before it becomes too much? How long before we end back to square one?
Have you heard of patience? How about balance? When you start a new job, usually it takes a little time to get into a flow doesn't it? What about raising a kid? That takes time. Training your pets not to chew on your furniture takes time. Do you hear what I'm saying? When you start "getting back in shape," start with something you can handle. If it's hot yoga, practice, practice, practice! Give it two months and truly test it. If you see no results, move on to the next thing. But make sure you gave it your very best. Don't show up once per week and then say, "well that didn't work." Be real and be honest. I have been teaching yoga for over a decade and I have yet to see anyone who practiced three to five times per week claim that it didn't work.
I congratulate you when take action on your health. But I caution you to be smart. To look at your schedule and see where you can make the time. How much time you actually have. Commit to what you're doing. If it's hot yoga, awesome! But practice consistently and practice strong. Don't kid yourself into thinking that it doesn't take effort. Hot Yoga will challenge you and if you're practicing with conviction the results will not only come fast, but they will change your entire outlook on life. By far, it is one of the most beneficial exercises out there. But you have to show up and you have to take it on. Two months with a minimum of three to five times per week. I think it's wonderful that you made up your mind to take care of your health. Your quality of life. You're worth it. And I wish you nothing, but success. Just, please don't overload. It's not necessary. Our habits need to be looked at and if we habitually have a tendency to overload and then crash. Well, then we need to change our habits. Create balance and stay consistent. Your chances of converting your exercise into a ritual will increase significantly. And your chances of success will automatically come true.
To your health & success,
Marco Gamez
