Choose your health.

Hello everyone, Marco here.
Listen to this.  Within a 5 mile radius of our studio (Pura Vida) here in Chandler, we are surrounded by well over 15 fitness facilities.  And yet, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than one-third (35.7 percent) of U.S. adults were obese as of 2010; while almost 17 percent of youths were obese. This means that there are at least 78 million obese adults and about 12.5 million obese children and adolescents in the country.

With so many options within a 5 mile radius in just one small town, one would wonder how this could be possible.  Now, we all know that obesity can derived from a number of things such as depression, life style, injuries, over medication, eating the wrong things, etc.  Man, we're so busy working we've forgotten about ourselves.  Many of us are eating at our desks or going through drive threws eating junk just to save time.  It is insane!  What are we going to do about this mess?

Many times, we make up our minds that we simply can't afford to pay for fitness memberships and that may be true for many of us.  But the costs of dealing with bad health later in life could end up being more.  So we could do it at home, but we just don't have the time or motivation to stay consistent.  So what do we do?

Try this to see if you can get some clarity.  On the financial side; record how much you spend at Starbucks or at a local fast food joint per month and see what it adds up to.  Then compare it to what a membership would cost you and simply make the better choice.  Go for your health.  As I mentioned above, if you live in Chandler you have several choices.  Now, if you're a bit (or a lot) overweight, don't make it about losing weight.  Don't make it about looking good for the next big event in your life.  Instead, make it about your health.  Exercise and start eating better so you can enjoy your children.  So you can spend quality time with your wife or husband.  Don't allow your ego to run your life.  You may have to go through some discomfort when you first start, but it will get better.  Just do a little every day.  Commit!

As a nation, we're definately in trouble.  As individuals, we need to be more responsible.  Many of you may have special situations and please know that I am not judging you.  I just want you to do some research in case there is something you can do for yourself.  If you have any questions and if I may be of any help to you, please contact me.  Sometimes we need a little push and other times we just need the right people by our side.

To your health and success,
Marco Gamez
