Looking for inspiration?

How many times have you come into a place in your life when you felt out of sorts?  When a part of you felt a bit defeated and tired?  When your energy was just low and your body just didn’t feel the same?  Most times when we feel this way, we’re simply too stressed and too spread out.  We’re taking on more than what we can handle and we begin to rush through everything.  And unfortunately, many times we’re just not getting the help we deserve from those who are around us the most.  So what’s the answer?  Is there just one answer or do we need to take on even more?  Tuff spot to be in right?

If it’s any consolation, we’ve all be here before.  The obvious is always to prioritize and take care of what’s most important and then handle the least important.  And I know for some of you this is hard, but asking for help is key.  Now I know some of you are thinking, “Yeah right man!  Asking for help at my home is like pulling tooth and nails.”  But think about it.  How long do you think you can go before you physically collapse or breakdown from holding so much resentment that everything just falls apart?  The last thing we want to do is give up.  Or make up our minds that it’s just the way it is.  That this is our life and that it will never change.

Ok, now you’re thinking, “Wow man, this is depressing! And how the hell does this relate to yoga?”  I bet you didn’t know I could read minds, ha, ha.  First let me say that this is happening many of us and while we’re feeling it and seeing it, most times we’re ignoring it.  We’re simply sweeping it under the carpet and we’re hoping it never resurfaces.  What most people don’t realize about having a consistent yoga practice is that through your practice you begin to recapture your strengths.  Taking an hour per day to break away from everything and only focus on you is monumental.  And I know many of you agree with me because it’s already happened to you.  You’re no longer taking shit from anybody.  You’re now at a point where you understand your worth.  You stand by what you know you deserve and you won’t settle for less.  Yoga is a great way to exercise, but that’s not all it is.  The bottom line is that it’s about creating balance between your physical, your mindset and if we’re fortunate enough, our spirituality.  And finding such balance means you’ll have to face where you are and what needs to be changed or improved upon.  Finding such balance will help you share the work and you’ll demand to be met half way and nothing less.  You’ll stand firm on your own two feet and you’ll realize your own happiness.  The happiness you know you deserve.
