40 Days of Hot Yoga.

Two months ago a few of us embarked on a 40 day challenge at Pura Vida.  We gave ourselves eight weeks to practice yoga for a minimum of five days per week to reach the full 40 days.  With our busy lives, most of us didn’t quite realize how committed we would have to be to accomplish such a goal.  When you consider having to work all day, take care of our kids, pets, and our homes.  A few of you got sick along the way and were set back almost instantly.  Others got distracted with social events and just couldn’t pass it up.  And yet others were able to see it through and finish right on time.

Congratulations to those of you who accomplished your goals.  I don’t need to tell you how great you must feel at this point.  Feeling lighter, stronger, accomplished and better then when you first started.  You should be very proud of yourselves and this should give you an indication of what you’re capable of doing when you set your mind on something and simply go after it.  This is how effective you can be when you’re focused and determined.  Congrats!!!!  Awesome job….

For those of you who had a difficult time finishing today, we congratulate you as well.  The truth is that it takes guts to take on a commitment such as this one.  Practicing yoga for 40 days is not that simple and unfortunately sometimes life gets in the way.  But that’s exactly what will continue to happen for the rest of our lives.  It will always get in the way be it a social invitation to an event or getting sick and not feeling so good.  The whole point of taking on the 40 day challenge was to help you realize something about the importance you place on your health.  Your commitment to finishing what you started.  So, I will keep your names on the board until you finish your 40 days.  Not to point out that you didn’t finish, but to remind you that you will see this through.  That you won’t simply walk away with reasons and excuses for not finishing.  All of you have good reasons for not finishing on time, but that doesn’t mean you won’t finish.  The challenge wasn’t intended to be a stupid diet.  It is intended for you to set the bar high and keep up with your health.  To learn not to quit or give up just because you feel bad.  Please.  We all feel bad from time to time, it doesn’t mean shit.  I don’t care if you have one more day to go or ten days to go.  Get your butts into the studio and finish what you started.  I want everyone’s name to be circled on that board.  I expect you in there today!  You guys know I say this with love.  There will not be one person on that board who is allowed to quit.  Get in here and prove to yourself that you’re a finisher.  Break the habits that hold you back and raise the bar for yourself.  I’ll see you guys tonight.  Congratulations everyone.

To your health & success,
Marco Gamez
